Not a single headline about what happened last night...

This is bigger than partygate

Bigger than Rwanda

It's so much worse

A law was passed that will allow Tories to rig elections

To take endless dodgy donations

And to be accountable to no one but themselves

A dark day

the government just won a vote to take control of the Electoral Commission. That's right: Johnson will now wield ultimate power over another of the bodies designed to hold executive power in check. This is not a functioning democracy.

They also passed a law that will see them spend millions enforcing voter ID

To fix a fraud problem that doesn't exist

And to stop millions from voting

Millions of poorer, typically non-Tory voters.

And if you're angry and want to protest about it...

. . .  last night they also passed a law to give police the right to arrest "noisy" protesters

One of the worst nights in our history

The shattering of democracy

The move into dictatorship

And not a f*cking peep from the press so far

A dark, dark day.

And not a word of opposition about it from Labour

Labour need to say what they think. If it upsets the echo-chamber of Twitter or lose some right of centre votes then so be it. A clear vision of what they stand for is a platform for election success.

They don't THINK anything at all;  that's the problem.  When your leader is a mung-bean chewing, sandal-wearing communist you've had years in the dark and only time can rid you of that poisonous ideology so that the people think you can be trusted.  Nobody has yet realized that Tony Blair was only successful because he emulated conservatives, albeit with inquisitorial commissars in his ranks as time went on.  It's a Leftist trait and you're only making the uber shallow Johnson look good.  Nothing else.

Need to read "The Road to Wigan Pier" to see what Orwell thought of bourgeois socialists.  (Clue;  not much)

Agree with every word. You have to be pretty awful to make Johnson look good, but Labour are making a good fist of it even if they are quite not succeeding.

Today a priceless gold hat with a 317-carat diamond and 400 other jewels was driven in a custom-made Rolls Royce to a £2.5 billion palace, where it was placed next to a gold chair in which sat one of the world's richest men, who told 2 million hungry Britons there's no money.

Twitter seems angrier about the chair and the crown than it does about the speech, once again proving how connected to real life Twitter isn't.

You're not being fair there. What the post is angry about, as am I, is the inequality, the celebrated inequality.

This was at the Queen's Speech yesterday. How do you read the body language: are they chums?

I think he said 'Quiet weekend?'

Although I never heard of him, I reckon he must be of some importance in the UK...  ;)

He likes a curry and a beer so can't be all bad.

True. Curry rivals roast beef and fish and chips as a national dish. As for beer, Germany takes some beating. :P

Here's a widely publicised photo of our esteemed Prime Minister 'following the rules' at Downing Street while the rest of us were in lock-down. The story gets worse and worse. No doubt we will all be told that it's time to 'move on':

Indeed, hence today's announcement of cash giveaways. My wife is a little older and officially a pensioner so I'd better stick with her until October. ;)
