Are there any string quartet compositions out there that are scored for ensembles other than the standard 2 violins, viola and cello ensemble?

Arensky's 2nd string quartet is for violin, viola and 2 cellos. Carl Stamitz wrote several sets of quartets for violin, 2 violas and cello. I'm not sure how many quartets there are for violin, viola, cello and bass but at least one set, by Hoffmeister, of "Quartetti a Contrabbasso Obbligato". Rossini's six string sonatas are for 2 violins, cello and bass. Ignaz Lachner has a quartet for 3 violins and viola, and Benjamin Franklin (yes that one) a quartet for 3 violins and cello. York Bowen wrote a fantasia for four violas, and Grażyna Bacewicz has quartets for four violins and four cellos (as do some other people).

That's all I can think of offhand. Only the Arensky and Rossinis are anything close to being repertory pieces, though.

Ginastera's String Quartet No. 3 is for soprano and string quartet. Finnissy's Third includes recorded birdsong.
