The sound isn't great, but his playing...whew! By the way, a few pieces were recorded in 1974 according to my Roon software.

Salon de Budapest.
Alle details about music and performers on the back cover.

This music take you back to the bourgeois salon of the late 19th century, a kind of oasis in what was only supposed to be the good old days, and those were the days! It was heard in the coffee houses, restaurants and taverns of Budapest and Vienna. What I would not give to get a glimpse or two of the musical hubbub, and hear for a hour or so a live performance of that time. O, well. Fine performances and SOTA sound. I was on my toes in a few minutes, it just draws you in. There are some vocal contributions, of a middle of the road Soprano, which I skipped. Lehar for instance needs a Soprano like Erika Köth, a voice I admire much. She died alas some time ago. After her dead, they found a very large wine cellar, full with excellent German wines. She drank a bottle a day, some say......and right she was.

Bruckner

Symphony No.1

It's been a while since I listened to a Bruckner symphony. Sometimes I get lost in the music that I listen to a lot, such as Bach's organ works, and it seems sometimes difficult to find my way back to other music. Bruckner is a great friend of me and I enjoy listening to his first one, which is beautifully performed here by Jochum.
A certain cheerfulness comes over me especially during the scherzo.

Joseph Joachim Raff.
Violin Sonatas.
Se back cover for details of the works.

Recorded: 2003 at Studio 2, Bayerischer Rundfunk, München, Germany.

Absolute delightful performances of these Violin sonatas, in direct but pleasant sound. It' a work of love and labour. Insightful, detailed, applied with just the right amount of warmth.

Good call. Rubbra is consistently impressive 👏

Very pleasant, and warm and committed playing. Very good sound too, and composers not as often heard. The Recorders sound fantastic, and the musician know their business. My first encounter with this ensemble.
