Opus 32 nos 4-6
Nomos Quartett

Hello - I already own these quartets (nearly all by the groups listed) but I was reviewing the recordings on Amazon and a 2*/5* review was left (shown below) complaining that the sleeves were glued together - cannot believe the complaint - can you clarify?  Will help others considering a purchase - thanks.  Dave :)

Me, too, Karl. Hugely impressed with everything I've heard him conduct on record: Bach, Berlioz, Mendelssohn et. al.

Anton Gosswin. (ca 1546-ca 1598)
Selected works.
Church music, Songs & Madrigals.
Le Miroir de Musique, Baptiste Romain.
Recording: Leymen (F), église Saint-Léger, 2022.
Cover illustration: Lambert Lombard (1505-1566) St Paul before the altar of the unknown god (ca 1530).

A decent selection of this unknown composer, well performed and recorded. I like his music and he delivers certainly quality compositions. The back cover gives some info about him and his role in the time he lived.
"adding beauty to ugliness as a countermeasure to evil and destruction" that is my aim!

Jean-Marie Leclair (1697–1764)
Trio Sonatas Op. 4.
Ensemble Diderot, Johannes Pramsohler.
Recorded: Südwestrundfunk, 2019, SWR Studio Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Music and performance equally invite you to a sophisticated sense of well-being. There is everything to applaud in these interpretations, and almost nothing to criticise. Pramsohler keeps his steady flow of excellent recordings going to an ever increasing level of sophistic excellence. This is one of them.

NOW, about to be released is the 3-disc set below on Brilliant w/ a 'sampling' of the 150 Psalms (recordings are from the 1980/90s but w/ some excellent people - Amazon description attached) - at any rate, I've setup a Spotify playlist of both recordings and will take a listen.  Thanks!  Dave

A short note of advice: on the Glossa set each psalm in set by Sweelinck is preceded by the (plain) original. Although it is something interesting to hear both versions next to each other, skipping the originals and sticking to Sweelinck makes for a more rewarding listening experience.  :)

Excellent! Much better than Alejandro Casal on Brilliant...

I have a different opinion about this

I suppose the inclusion of the plain original psalms are directed to those who don't know the psalms beforehand. So if one knows the psalms the originals are superfluous.

I've been waiting for the right night to pull the trigger on this fabulousness...

It seems that this set in only for real Liszt aficionados.

I have completed listening to all of the original works for piano. They only account for 1/3 of the CD's in the set.

The rest include his transcriptions and arrangements. His transcription of the Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique is awesome.

There are nine discs devoted to drafts and fragments.

It has been too long since I listened to the Symphony #5 of Tchaikovsky.

The first time I heard it was in the early 1960's: I had found the RCA monaural Boston Symphony recording with Serge Koussevitzky conducting.

It might have been this one from the mid-1940's, re-issued as a high fidelity 33 1/3 record in the 1950's.
