I am glad you like them!

Apart from the quality of the music, these are strong performances.
Love the generous use of brass & timpani!  :)

That was the reason I bought them all :)
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Beethoven

Debussy 'La Mer' Philharmonia Orchestra cond. Geoffrey Simon
A fine and beautifully recorded performance.
I've been impressed with Simon's Bloch and Respighi recordings and these two CDs were being offered for about £1.50 each plus postage:

"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

'La cathédrale engloutie' (orch. Stokowski)
Sensational in this recording. Reminded me of Respighi:

Dvorak: Symphony No. 4 [Jarvi]

Jarvi takes the first movement slowly, letting the music breathe. The music is still assertive and the tension, drama and atmosphere is maintained. Once again, in the Andante, Jarvi takes the music at a gentle pace. The tone is particularly meditative, pensive, the presentation is lyrical and the sound is full. This is an energetic and elegant version of the Scherzo, particularly in the Trio section. The final movement is well served in terms of the inherent excitement, intensity and drama.
