Fabulous sonics, Olivier. On LP a demonstration recording.

Good morning Lol,
I must admit it was very entertaining and sounded very clear, even on basic streaming.

Fauré - Nocturnes (Stott).

Absolutely gorgeous so far (no.1 to 5).
Wait until you reach the Sixth Nocturne...Perhaps Frauré's most wonderful piano piece!

Good morning Rafael,

Recording dates:March 1991

A Jan Harmens Kamp Organ, 1712-1716. Equal temperament.
In 1721 Franz Caspar Schnitger proposes to replace the Spring Chest of the Hauptwerk, with a slider chest, to renew the complete action of the Hauptwerk and to add to it a new Dulciaan 16. In 1722 the unfinished organ by Kamp passed the examination by the famous organist Petrus Havingha from Groningen.

This recording makes me happy in all respects. There are some minor issues with the tempi in the trios, due to the somewhat slow tempos in the Largo/Adagio,every note is given maximum effect and emotional depth. The Organ, unknown to me is marvelous, even though many things are altered in the cause of time. The voicing is sublime.

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Que: I just started relistening to the "Secret Labyrinth" set last night (disc 1). But there are so much in the queue, perhaps just as well that jpc has credit card triobles.

Now disc 1 from this and finding it very pleasant:

My first Dutch (?) baroque opera.

Stürmisch Bewegt

I'm glad I have Szymanowski's two VCs on CD, they'd have been worn out on LP I like them so much.  I was introduced decades ago to this composer at the Eastman School where I went for a concert and heard his Song of Roxana, from King Roger; if you have not yet heard it, permit me please to inoculate you with a dose of Szymanowski: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgbbZCETyfM; it will surely cure you of...something.

First-listen Friday:

:)

I listened to that album last month. Didn't expect to see someone else doing the same, as all the composers are totally unknown. Very enjoyable stuff.  :)

Curious - where purchased and cost?  Cannot find on Amazon USA at the moment. Thanks - Dave 😀

Another listen, this time through cans.  The recording sounds better balanced through headphones, and one can wallow in Hahn's playing just that little bit more.

That's a great set!  And was quite reasonably priced when I purchased it...around $14 I think.  Not certain where you can get it these days?  Brilliant Classics put it out (10 CDs).  They were licensed from Decca Music Group.  No. 94054.  Full barcode = 5028421940540 [Info for I believe that it was Dave who asked?].  You might try going to www.brilliantclassics.com.

Love that CD!  That work blew me away the first time that I heard it too.  Would love to see that performed live.  :)

Regarding Janacek's Sinfonietta:

Indeed, would love to hear it live. You need a lot of brass!  :D
