(In Romanian this slang word has two meanings, both of them hilarious, one of them quite erotic. Hence my laughter.)

Apparently it means "Moon" in Indonesian. So be careful if you travel!

Loosely related to that "Moon" thing apparently...

:D

Well, the first Romanian meaning is "police baton"; the second (used mostly in the plural form bulane) is "long, beautiful, attractive female legs".

Boston SO & Tanglewood Ch. - Seiji Ozawa

Easily my favourite recording of Gurre-Lieder, mostly for the lineup of soloists and Colonel Klink providing sprechstimme. Many lament the audio, but I find it more than adequate, and I don't mind Ozawa's forward-moving tempos either.

I've always liked this one, too. Great vocal cast! Tatiana Troyanos sings in my favorite recording of Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle (w/ Boulez). Tremendous voice. Oh and Jessye Norman isn't too bad either. ;) Anyway, Gurre-Lieder is such a vast work that it'll allow many different kinds of interpretation. I also enjoy Sinopoli and Boulez in this work.

👍

A gorgeously lyrical reading by Tozer, the only caveat being he plays the "short" first movement cadenza. I hope you also proceeded to the Third Concerto. 😎

A little soft. Good for the listeners who like it.

I agree to this, and personal preference for voice types will always be particular to the listener.
