The Stockholm Sonatas II.

Absolutely ravishingly beautiful.

Just uploaded those 3 discs to my Google Play Music account and made a playlist - now easy to just AirPlay via my Apple TV to the den speakers or using the Sonos app on my iPad to our bedroom Sonos smart speaker.  For those not familiar w/ this Google offering - the service is 'free' for up to 50,000 'songs' - I've upload an eclectic mix of 200 albums (about 3500 'songs' or tracts), so plenty of room left - just another of the many 'cloud music storage' options around these days, free or paid.  Dave :)

Bach, Johann Christian (1735-1782) - Chamber Works on the three discs below - finishing my perusal of Papa Bach's youngest boy - had some duplicates that I culled but kept most in my collection.  Dave :)

Sibelius: Flagstad sings Sibelius

This is a selection of orchestral songs by Sibelius very ably sung by Kirsten Flagstad whose voice I like.

Shostakovich: Symphony No. 8 [Haitink]

This is a terrific presentation of this bleak, turbulent, agitated and unsettling music.

I have a couple of operas as well. Alas, no piano music that I can see.

That's too bad indeed.

Thanks for your insight into the Schönberg SQ, Symphonic Addict! The only one I know (barely) is the second  :(.

You're welcome! The 1st SQ will be right up your alley.

Wow, sounds great. I don't know if I need a whole Brahms cycle from Boult, but I'm going to seek out that recording of the Alto Rhapsody at least. I love Janet Baker.

Current listening for me:

Franz Schubert: String Quintet in C major, D956. Pavel Haas Quartet + Danjulo Ishizaka. What a performance! This rivals my favorite, the Rostropovich/Emerson. (I was less impressed with the Death and the Maiden on the other disc, but I'll be returning to it).

An alternative is perhaps this box  :)
