I've had a Jo Kondo kind of day, and what I'm seeing is that I enjoy pieces from the mid seventies. Like Falling on this.
I have his solo piano music and I also enjoy the earlier stuff.

I haven't heard much solo piano music, though I can see there's quite a lot of it. Some of the stuff is very much of a piece with Feldman. I'm listening to something from 2002 called In medias res on the cd in the picture, and it has a pulse marked with chords with harmonies like in Feldman - the type of chords in  For Samuel Beckett. I guess they were mutual influences.

Olivier Messiaen: Le Banquet céleste, etc. Louis Thiry

I was at an organ recital at the local Episcopal cathedral this afternoon which concluded with a piece by Messiaen and I was in the mood for more. I have Traverso here to thank for putting me onto monsieur Thiry's work, but I found this boxed set for under ten dollars last year, brand new, what a steal. I love Messiaen's sense of harmony. Unparalleled.

Or this set

Yep, this is the set I own, but I also own most of the individual issues, which are comprised of this set you posted.

TheGSMoeller

The past week I've listened to Daphnis et Chloe multiple times from various recordings, mostly from these two, which I just enjoyed again today because I can't get enough of this beautiful piece...

The Dutoit is a winner, although I don't know the Gergiev yet.

I can't see the Traverso image. What would it be?

JS Bach - Christmas Oratorio [Jacobs]

Christmas Oratorio - Part V For the Sunday After New Year [Jacobs]

The opening movement is well driven by Jacobs and a fine sense of both joy and celebration pervades the movement which is subsequently replaced with a dose of reverence throughout the presentation which is summarised very well in the final Chorale. The recitatives are also interesting and exciting in themselves!

Good day for quality music, today.

I agree 😁. Big, bold, and beguiling. So much of interest over the 40 minutes or so.

Schoenberg: String Quartet No. 4

Yet another of those works which I could call "bewitching and meticulously written music". It's an exercise for my brain to grasp the music, his form, his transformation. It's an unpredictable piece, in many respects: rhythm, harmony, motif or theme, etc.

The other symphonies and music in general have a distinctive taste and flavour too. Somewhat Mahlerian or reminiscent of it, perhaps, but ultimately well-written music.

Zemlinsky: Sinfonietta

These cover arts are nasty, curious to say the least, but the music is just quite impressive, and how well played and conducted it is here!
