Quote from: Florestan on February 09, 2023, 08:06:46 AMBlimey, I never knew Clara Schumann was recorded. This is a must have for me.  ;D

Seriously now, I don't have that Fricsay boxset (a situation which I should remedy asap) but I have this one:

so one of these days I'm going to listen to those performances. What do you make of them, by the way?

I really like her recordings,to name just one,I love her Scarlatti.

There are two Fricsay boxes, I think they are both sold out, so you have to look hard for an acceptable (price-wise) copy

There is also this box (oop now) wich contains many recordings and without the lyrics.

Thank you very much, Jan.

I'll have to rummage through those albums to see what I am missing, quite a mixed bag by the looks of it with Buxtehude scattered over several releases.

Sadly, I didn't know enough of Ricercar nor had yet appreciated the quality of their recordings when the big box was released. Maybe one day a used copy will pop up somewhere.

The only people more nuts than those asking these prices are those who pay them.  ;D

Your answer is no surprise,I looked for the most expensive I could find, just to make you happy. :)

Naughty, naughty, Jan!

But seriously, I do wonder whether there is anyone in the whole world willing to pay 1,400 bucks for the Fricsay orchestral recordings boxset. For God's sake, a second-hand serviceable car can be bought for much less, at least in Romania.  ;D

Quote from: Karl Tirebiter Henning on February 09, 2023, 06:51:49 AMIt's a peculiar thing: Ibert is one of those composers I don't generally think of, yet I always enjoy his music when I do hear it.
And, not coincidentally ...

I am a great fan of Zwillich since many many years. Got this CD from a friend in New York, for at that time it was not available in Europe. I got over the years a few CD's with her music together, but frankly she is totally forgotten. The recordings on Naxos were meant to revive this extraordinary composer on the map again, but that failed altogether. Well then, she is worth to be discovered, and worth the effort. Good performances and recording. This recording seems to be OOP.

I have the Delos CD you listened to a few days ago, with Zuill Bailey as soloist in the Cello Concerto. Frankly, the only work I truly liked was "Peanuts Gallery"; the other works were of interest but did not draw me in.
Naturally de gustibus...

I do have this CD which includes her Quintet for Alto Saxophone and String Quintet; that worked well for me (as did everything else on the CD).

As I mentioned somewhere, this full set is available as a lossless download for a price in the neighbor of $50 (Presto), or at least it was a while ago when I purchased it.

All the more reason to question the sanity of those who ask for exorbitant prices --- and especially of those who pay such prices.
