Wrapping up the Prazak big box with the mixed rep concert recording.  Every piece comes off well, and Op 135 may be more expressive, if perhaps less intense, than the Praga studio recording.  Overall, the ensemble delivers a 49/50 hit rate, with the one miss, the Schumann, being merely good.

Now if that Nuova Era LvB cycle can be reissued at some point, along with the other pre-Praga recordings.

Bachtoven

These are intense performances, but the sound is a bit bright/thin, which is odd for an SACD, but the master is a 24 bit 44.1kHz PCM recording, so that might explain it. (Plus, a couple of the mics listed have a rather hot high end.)

How would that explain anything?

Johann Sebastian Bach: Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis, BWV 21. Ton Koopman, Amsterdam Baroque

Greatest of the cantatas? It's got my vote—or it's my favorite, anyway. Astonishingly good music.

One of my favourite Marco Polo CDs. 'Pliny's Fountain' is especially poetic and eloquent.

He wrote a very eloquent work - 'Two Pieces for String Orchestra' adapted from the central movements of Symphony No.19.
