I reckon that Celibidache was paid by the minute while he was in the recording studio  ;D

It's a concert recording, but nevertheless. ;D I couldn't imagine being a member of that orchestra. Talk about stamina.

Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 17 K.453 [Rubinstein/Wallenstein]

This is a sparkling performance.

Schubert: Schwanengesang [Fischer-Dieskau/Moore]

This is an ardent, meditative, dark toned reading that has great presence.

Lovely music.
"adding beauty to ugliness as a countermeasure to evil and destruction" that is my aim!

Traverso

Haydn

Haydn wanted to compose an oratory after he had heard the Messiah of Handel in London.
This version is in English, a German version was made later when Haydn returned to Germany.
To be honest, I think this recording is the most attractive one I know.

During the big storm I was so stressed about the safety of my house, and even now, for it is not totally over.
Liadov is a good antidote against stress, so yes I am listening again, be it with a bottle of Zinfandel at my disposal.
Utopia Triumphans is a fine disc, as almost all discs with Nevel and his Huelgas ensemble.
