I'm loving the Hurwitz videos. And after reading his reviews, and I've read one of his books, I began to pick up on his dry, and often hilarious, humor.  But Hurwitz can also be very direct with his opinions (see his CD From Hell series on Classics Today for example) Perhaps it's challenging to differentiate between the two.
I've commented on several of his videos and he responds to almost all of them, even on one I mentioned that he forgot to recommend a recording, I was being slightly sarcastic, and Hurwitz response was simply, "It's lousy!"
It also seems to be a common trend here at GMG that if he absolutely hates a recording then it's definitely worth checking out.

I don't mind him being opinionated but if he's trying to be funny he should hold up a smiley face onna stick  :) just like we have to do here  :) and if he wants to make a serious point he should wipe the cheshire cat smile off his face.  >:(  And I know all there is to know about cheshire cats - I've lived in Cheshire these last 40+ years.

I think that James Earl Jones (Darth Vader) is effective as the speaker in the Lincoln Portrait.

Nice?

;D :D ;D ...I love the question mark. Not your usual exclamation point. To answer your question:  His Landler second movement is quite nicely paced. The Rondo Burleske is ferocious as hell (Solti at his best). When I'm in a hurry to experience death, Solti is a good choice to take me there. Swift and to the point. Utterly unlike the trumpeting Peter Sellers' death scene in The Party.  But the Andante comodo doesn't move me like the Karajan live. So, three quarters of a great performance.

That MTT DGG CD is excellent.

It sure is. What do you think of the Piston Slatkin disc? It's also excellent.

He is towering, figuratively speaking. My favourite version of this beloved work. He is also the speaker on a Howard Hanson work on the same label.

My favorite Lincoln Portrait remains Charlton Heston/Abravanel on Vanguard Classics.
