I'm afraid I do not like the sound of Cinquecento, the sound is too dense - heavy and bass rich.  I've had enough of it after 10 minutes. The music of the mass is OK, not more than that as far as I can see. Cleve is not for me.

I haven't heard it, since Hyperion in unavailable on Spotify, but this reviewer seems to agree with you:

(Note that according this reviewer the last name of Jacobus Vaet is pronounced as "Vart"... Well, no... definitely not...  ::))

A really awesome recording.  :)

Especially as it contains the complete Office - Responsories, Lamentations, plainchant (nearly all), antiphons etc

It all feels (is) very authentic and on three discs of "heavenly length"  :)

Inexcusable that Glossa didn't bother a full reissue, but just did a single "highlights" disc...

I'm glad I got the real thing when it was still available. Like you say, it is the complete reconstruction that is essential to the uniqueness of the recording.

I like (and often even prefer) historical performances if sound quality is good enough. SQ of this release seems excellent, much better than expected.
The Johann Strauss arrangements (1 by AS, 1 by AW) on disc 4 I could live without, but I very much enjoy the other works/performances.

Very nice. 8)

Very Nice. I really like von Karajan in Strauss.
