Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

"When Time hath gnawed our bones to dust, yet friendship's echo shall not rust"

My favourite of Berglund's various 'Tapiola' recordings and a fine disc.

Yes, indeed. 8) A disc I quite enjoy. The fidelity is first-rate.

Speaking of first-rate...

Vivaldi: Four Seasons [Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble]

Did I really need another Four Seasons? Well, when I heard this version the definite answer was most certainly yes. This has everything required of an excellent performance of this work. It has vigour, power, atmosphere and virtuosity. The barking dog is there, the heat haze, the storm, the coldness of the ice, the crackling fire. Nobody probably listens to this work any more but should you decide to do so I can definitely recommend this version to shake things up a bit.

Right at the beginning of this recording you feel a kind of connection, I can hardly put my finger on what exactly it is that immediately attracts my attention. seems reflective of the intentions underlying this piece.
Even though I haven't heard everything yet, it is clear to me that this is one of the best recordings I know.

The recording is excellent with enough presence

I am delighted that you enjoyed it so much, Jan.  :)

Would love to hear Kondrashin's recordings of Shostakovich.  Looks like you were listening to it on a Melodiya LP?

Very enjoyable so far, Lol. Léhar was a fun discovery last night. Now going through some Satie, Offenbach, from the same box... :)

I recall the Berlioz bits and pieces to be very good, Olivier.

In a few days I wil get this recording,I look forward to it. :)
I find his organ works more accessible than his well-known pieces for piano, but that has now changed, fortunately.
Listening to the recording of Kars may also be helpful and enlightening to listen to the recording of Osborne (and others) and the music itself.

Revisiting a favorite overlooked 20th century piano concerto.

Would be a great discmate to Szymanowski Symphony No. 4. Not sure how you'd fill out the remaining 20 minutes of disc space. Ravel left hand? Hmm

For some reason or another I was thinking that he had recorded them more....perhaps for another label?

Hello, I just received in CD media:

MOZARABIC CHANT directed by the skilled & gifted  director visionary Marcel Pérès

It's very nice, had it in download had to have it in CD media. This is pleasant, relaxing like it a lot, to hear.
