Very nice John. I heard an interview with Evelyn Rothwell, the oboist, who made the first recording of the Oboe Concerto with her husband, John Barbirolli and she said that she considered the Oboe Concerto to be a very underrated work.

Some gloomy early morning listening here:
Miaskovsky's 'Silence' Op.9

On to the searching and lyrical 'Sinfonietta' Op.32, No.2 now. The middle movement is so sad and yet very beautiful. This recording is best IMO.

Very nice, Jeffrey. I think all of Vaughan Williams' concerti are underrated. I'll have to revisit some Myaskovsky since he seems to be hot at the moment on GMG. I own all of the Svetlanov's recordings.

My Miaskovsky box is missing, and of course all of you are suspect (except Jeffrey and Harry who seem to have enjoyed theirs for far longer than I've had mine)

I have an alibi: I acquired the box in 2008. You can take me off the list of suspects  ;D

One of the finest performances of Sibelius' 4th on record, IMHO.

It was Jeffrey's wife. She is going around stealing all of the boxes. I don't think she likes Miaskovsky' music  ;)  ::)  ;D

She would say, "what's that infernal noise Jeffrey"
