Repeat listening to recent acquisitions (it's a habit of mine, sometimes takes a few hearings to form an opinion)

Just so.

Hahn: Violin Sonata

Thoroughly charming from start to finish. The last movement is full of tenderness and lyricism, something to soothe your soul. I know that Rafael is not a fan of violin sonatas, but I suspect he might like this work since it was written by one of his favorite composers.

Rózsa: String Trio

Being a work by a 20-year-old guy, this is something of an authentic genius and a mature composer. There are some striking melodies that won't leave you indifferent.

The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied.

Love that Rózsa disc!

There are only so many hours in each day, and a surprising number of them need to be spent doing other things besides listening to CDs!

Indeed. But one needs a job to pay for all this music, alas.

Arensky: Piano Quintet

This work shows how a good craftsman Arensky was. A succinct and engaging work all around. The Scherzo is one of the most catchy and playful I've heard in a chamber work.

String Quartet No. 1

What an incredible work! I like the density and intensity that run throughout. It's a feast of chromaticism. The performance is also terrific.

Nice! I don't know the Arensky, but the Szymanowski is a great favorite. Love a lot of this composer's music.

Update
Pleasant, but nothing makes this a must hear (unless you want to get as much Florence Price or William Grant Still as you can).

Very convincing performances of music from the 12th century Spanish Codex Calixtinus.

Love the two Victoria recordings by this ensemble.

A pity that those recordings are hard to get, for I am in agreement of your assessment,  and would like to acquire them.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

A frustrating situation indeed! And this particular recording seems to be OOP altogether.
Came a bit late to the party... ::) I hope their recordings will be picked uo by a large Spanish label like Cantus, and reissued.

Anyway, it's great to see that Spain is now producing Early Music choirs that can match other top ensembles on a technical level. Did you also notice, even through online clips, the expert way the choir is recorded? Presence, balance, acoustics, spatial dimension - very impressive IMO.

Yes the recording quality is impressive indeed, in every respect!

I am really truly and deeply in love with Bortkiewicz's piano music. It has an eternal truth in it that captivates my imagination time and time again. Could not wish for better performances.

<pang of nostalgia> My gateway recording into the WAM concertos as a teen.

Here:

Britten: Diversions for Piano Left Hand and Orchestra (Donohoe, Rattle, CBSO)

Beautifully light on its feet and full of skylights into little worlds of wonder. Donohoe and Rattle dance through gracefully and colourfully. Good to hear Rattle playing to his strengths.

Taking Que's Telemann lead, pulled a mixture of discs for the afternoon - Dave :)

Dave, I wasn't impressed by the French Madeuf brothers.
Listening through the solo horn concerto in D major was just painful... ???
