Hearing the Leningrad symphony in Florida?

Thanks, saved for later listening.
My pleasure  :)

Fanfare for Heroes of the Korean War (under 5 mins).

Moving and enjoyable, with elements of Saving Private Ryan meets Apollo 13 soundtrack.

CPE Bach.

Harpsichord Concertos.

Les Amis de Philippe, Ludger Remy, Harpsichord and Direction.

Really delightful music. Well performed and recorded.
Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

Don't remember Pierne exciting me all that much in the French listening thread... which Olivier seems to have abandoned in favour of AFL fandom or something...

That sounds vaguely familiar  ;D

Pierné was one whose music was pleasant to me but not much more. Probably one worth a revisit when the mood takes me. You see, I am just too busy with Bach and others of late.

At least, they keep me entertained until the flipping AFL feels like returning (lazy so and so's  The AFLW is broadcast way too early right now  0:))

Ibert: Escales [Jarvi]

The first movement is powerfully presented but it still carries an atmosphere of excitement and discovery with it. The second movement presents a suitably exotic atmosphere. The final movement is a powerful, buoyant and sometimes humorous presentation, for me.

Overall, the music is presented lyrically but also definitely very much on the assertive side throughout by Jarvi.

Pierné Complete Chamber Music Vol. 2

Traverso

Bach

Sonata BWV 1030
Sonata BWV1035
Sonata BWV 1032

This is still my favorite recording of these sonatas and not to forget the impressive Partita.

Brüggen is a bit romanticizing at times when the music is asking for it (phrasing melody lines), which enhances the liveliness of the performance. This is in no way disturbing and does not get in the way of the performance.
No implementation of strictly applied rules, but music from the heart.

This is an okay performance, but, for me, the newer one on BIS with Zimmermann/Hruša blows them away.

Brian

Have to mostly agree - I have FPZ #1 and Suk #2.

John - I was on vacation a few days, was that your first dip into the Albeniz box? How's that going so far?

I haven't heard Zimmermann's recordings before, but Suk was certainly a top notch violinist!  Will see whether or not I can find a way to sample that BIS recording.

p.s.  I had tried to provide images to both the LP and to the CD, but gave up after eBay wouldn't let them appear.  :(

Bach, JS - Keyboard Concertos - first 3 below w/ harpsichord(s) and Lifschitz on piano - reviews attached - these seem to suit my needs fine although the old Pinnock 3-CD set could replace Moroney et al, any thoughts?  Dave :)
