This doesn't necessarily mean that Dutch isn't phonetic. It just means that the Dutch idea of how to use 26 or so arbitrary squiggles to represent sounds is different to the Romanian idea.

English, on the other hand, screwed the system up over several centuries.

This piece is a lot of fun! I liked the first half best, which is mostly variations on Poor Wayfaring Stranger. There is a dense canonic presentation, and it is combined with Turkey in the Straw.

A few days ago I watched a recital she gave in France. It was not only impressive but also in a way helpful in gaining more insight (following her excellently portrayed hands) and absorbing the music more. Curious how the studio recording compares to her recital that she performed without an audience (corona)


The CDs have just arrived and were still sealed and fortunately not for an absurd price.

It really was rather thoughtless of Midori and Thibaudet to not record Op 47 in time for my survey, but I am content with a snazzy performance that lands easily in my second tier.  Good stuff.

I enjoyed this enough to buy the 24/96 FLAC version rather than "renting" it from Qobuz!
