Strong composition and a strong performance, I would say fierce and it fits the piece.
One of my favorite pieces of Louis'!

Symphony № 4, Op. 29 / M. 132 « Sinfonia sacra » (1941)
Chamber Concerto № 4, Op. 30 / M. 139 (1942)
String Quartet № 4, Op. 63 / M. 183 (1953-54)

The opening Allegro appassionato has (I want almost to say) a strangely martial tone for a Sinfonia sacra, but of course, he composed it in tempore belli, so there's got to be a story in there.

Hope you can get them, worth listening all of them.

Notturno has some interesting music, it saved the listen. The other pieces are harder to like.

Beethoven - Violin Sonatas - PIs vs. MIs - enjoy both but Ogata and Watson are quite impressive - reviews attached.  Dave :)

Ooh...e-classical has the hi-res version of this new release a day early. The big works are Krenek's Sonata No.2 and his completion of Schubert's Sonata D.840. The pianist states he will probably not play the Schubert-Krenek in concert due to its extreme difficulty.

You can hear a striking harmonic change in Delius between his early chorus music and the later ones from after his operas. Laying out the music chronologically certainly helps identify Delius' progress as a composer.
