Quote from: Henk on Today at 03:48:56 AMHe always explains himself with (more than) fair arguments. Not a contribution?
He's thrown too many turds in the punchbowl over in the Shostakovich thread for me to have any patience with his games.
so, since he got called out there, he has brought his troll-adjacent behavior here. Personally, I find nothing to admire about that.

Oh, rest easy, when I discuss Russian music. I am entirely content that you recuse yourself. One wants to feel compassion for you in your situation. If you want to squander that collective good feeling by being a jerk, that's, erm, a choice.

Quote from: AnotherSpin on Today at 05:11:03 AMStrange how I'm constantly expected to explain myself. Is it really that hard to just scroll past?

Okay. Maybe it's precisely the lack of strong feelings that makes me want to comment—often with a touch of irony. The problem is, that tends to trigger exaggerated reactions from some members—usually the usual suspects—and some rather absurd accusations. But that's no longer my concern.

With reply to @Madiel, I'm done discussing my comments on Russian music. If anyone wants to keep the conversation going, feel free, but without me.

It's not a question of "scrolling past" your comments but the notion that you believe your comments are appropriate for this thread. People just want to post what they're listening to and, hopefully, have friendly discussions about the music (if the opportunity to discuss the music arises). What they don't want is to be subjected to a verbal onslaught about politics and how the country of the composer's birth (in this case, Russia) is so horrible and what they've done to their citizens. Nobody asked you about this and, I'm speaking for myself here, but I don't believe such commentary has any kind of relevance to what I'm hearing or enjoying about the music. If anything, you continue to spout divisive and unnecessary broadsides against a composer just because they were born in a country, which is your country's number one enemy right now.

There's a time and place for everything and a listening thread, as I pointed out to you, is not the place for you to do it.

Oh, now you're indulging yourself by labeling me with what you believe to be offensive tags. Let me tell: that says more about you than it does about me. I don't care — feel free to continue. I'm not going to run off and complain to mods about your insults for exactly that reason.

Furthermore, I said I will no longer take part in discussions about my comments on Russian music. Naturally, I'm referring to the recent attacks in the last few pages of this topic — I won't be responding to those. I will comment on Russian music, like any other music, whenever I see fit.

Beethoven Piano Sonata, No.31, Op. 110
Minsoo Sohn (piano)

Well, this is a step down from his performance of Op.109 for me. The distinctiveness seems to have disappeared and been replaced by a rather surprising anonymity. It's not bad, but beyond that I didn't really find much, sad to say.
I noticed in his Goldberg Variations that at times his playing felt quite special, then would dip to more ordinary levels at others. I wonder if he's somebody whose muse comes and goes rather frequently. But having as yet only heard three things by him, that's more speculation than observation.

Strange, A. how you are fond to play innocent (A jerk? moi?) and B. how you mistake, e.g. any post of mine at all as any expectation thar you explain yourself. Your behavior is self-explanatory.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is quite enough!

A member made a clearly inappropriate reply to an on-topic post by another member. This other member made a reasoned and civil explanation of why the reply was out of line.

Then, of course, every Tom, Dick and Harry joins in, sparking a discussion that only increases the unpleasantness that the initial, inappropriate reply started. This, as you all know, is called "feeding the troll".

So, to be clear, any further posts on this issue will be deleted. So will, henceforth, any hostile and inappropriate posts like the one that started this whole fuss. Understood?

Thanks.
