Streaming is incredibly easy, and much cheaper, and it gives access to a huge selection of recordings, including those that are out of print...

The writing for the future of the CD is on the wall... I can already notice that physical editions are becoming smaller and smaller since they run out of print within a year...

Yes this is also my conclusion. A small snag in streaming, albeit very rare, that a remastering, in which  the 16 bit is elevated to 24 bit. I had that recently with Handel Messiah on L'Oiseau-Lyre, which became almost unlistenable. I took the CD's out of my collection and sure thing is sounded much better at 16 bit. So there is a reason to keep the CD'S

You should learn how to rip the CD and play it on your system - it's not hard. Once it's ripped it can be streamed and retrieval and storage ceases to be a problem.

It goes to show that Enrico Onofri is a fabulous talented violinist, if anything this recording proves that abundantly. His bowing is almost out of this world, and in the fast movements there are moments with very fast passages that still come out firmly detailed and controlled. Amazing! Recording stage has dept, a lot of air around the instruments, and are nicely spaced out, in a totally silent background. Wherever this is recorded, the choice was a good one! Highly skilled musicians are part and parcel of the success of this interpretations. Just listen to "Madrigali Guerrieri et amorosa, Mentre vaga angioletta a due Violini e Basso,SV 157" by Monteverdi and you will be duly impressed. Recommended!

After I have finished upgrading my system I will dive in the theory and practicality of ripping some of my CD'S, and what equipment I need to do that. At the moment I am auditioning the Bricasti Amp M 15, and the Bricasti Pre amp M 20, and selected  better interlinks, XLR from Ansuz C 2, which I might change in a later stadium to a C 3, depending on the outcome of their respective qualities.
Thanks for alerting me to the fact that ripping is a possibility.

A rerun of this disc,albeit the recording is very bright to coin a phrase. Still the performance and music is highly attractive. Dorian Komanoff Bandy is a very skilled Violin player, who does not set a foot wrong, together with equally talented musicians. I never heard of them, but check it out, that at least will not hurt you! This CD is undeserved neglected in general, considering the quality of performance it deserves better. Bright the recording is but highly detailed and thoroughly enjoyable.

I still buy CD's AND rip them all to a hard-drive - in my head that provides greatest listening flexibility but also acts as a kind of mutual back-up.  I also find the ripping is good when I want to do quick/easy comparisons of performances within my collection.

It has been a good long while since I have heard anything from Sibelius, nonetheless spending time with Kullervo, so I think I will add him to my rotation.

I never took with Sir Colin's Sibelius RCA set at all. This one is a great improvement to my ears, where the engineers even make the Barbican sound rather lovely.

A thoroughly delightful rendering of Arne Trio sonatas. Standage keeps a high standard in this interpretation, and shows perfect ensemble discipline. All the finer details are laid before one, and it is almost as if they are making music in your room. Intimate, embracing, and with filigree glowing of the music. One could hardly do better. Still, after all those years a reference recording. Recorded against a very silent background. Awesome.
