I got the Eloquence set for the Spanish discs. Markevitch was the first music director of the Spanish National Radio and Television ("RTVE") Symphony Orchestra when it was founded in 1965, but his tenure was very brief. I should revisit this set, as it contains some interesting stuff I still haven't explored.

I since managed to secure a copy of the long OOP and difficult to obtain autobiography Markevitch wrote in French and was published by Gallimard in 1980, but I still haven't had the time to read it.

The autobiography looks very interesting. Any other prior conductors of Spanish RTVE worth looking for in recordings?

Vivaldi: Violin sonata in D minor, RV 15



On the whole this is the kind of music where I prefer to listen to only a sonata or two at a time, not blaze through the whole album. It does rather remind me, though, that I want to go back to the Naive Vivaldi series at some point and explore even more. I think I'd got through 40-odd volumes but that was some years ago.

They're now up to Volume 72.

Actually, according to the website you're one volume behind 

Though they can't quite decide if the latest one is 73 or 74 (and if it's 74, what happened to 73?)

Plus another one is coming up according to the Facebook page.

I'm faced with the reality that getting physical copies of a lot of earlier volumes is liable to be very difficult and expensive, unless they reissue them in a giant box at the end. Sigh.

I can't deny that one of the attractions is just the visual design. Though that wouldn't matter if the performances were poor.

Initially, I thought that the French paralipomènes is rather incorrectly constructed with respect to the original Greek, because by analogy with elektron which is rendered as electrons in plural, it should have read paralipomenons --- but then I remembered that phenomenon is rendered as phénomènes in plural and I realized that paralipomènes is actually correct.

If I understand you correctly, in common Greek parlance paralipomena means ommited (plural form), so that "We have omitted the files" translates in Greek as "[Greek for we have] paralipomena [Greek for the files]", not necessarily in that order --- is that right?

Παραλειπόμενα is a passive present participle. Your example is in the active voice (so it would be Έχουμε παραλείψει τα αρχεία, using the Greek present perfect tense -παρακείμενος- and not a passive participle). Even in the passive voice, your example would require the passive perfect participle, which is παραλελειμμένος or παραλειμμένος (τα παραλειμμένα αρχεία - the files that have been omitted).
Παραλειπόμενα as a passive present participle indicates ongoing or continuous omission. It's often used as a substantive noun ("the omitted" as a noun makes no sense in English, but think of eg "the wounded").
