The current annihilation of a people on this planet (you know which one it is) is the most documented and at the same time the most preposterously denied. The terror IS REAL!

The Complete Organ Works of Francisco Correa de Arauxo: Correa in the New World

Robert Bates

CD 4, 5

Two discs bring to completion a remarkable set devoted to the music of Francisco Correa de Arauxo. Recorded on organs in Mexico and the United States, they lift the organ tradition into something bright and transparent, like sunlight high in the mountains: clear, weightless, luminous.

Correa's Facultad Orgánica feels almost airborne. The melodies rise and twist like threads of light, each voice floating free rather than anchored by a heavy bass. The music is not woven but suspended; the notes hover and fade with the ease of birds gliding on warm air.

This lightness is not emptiness. It is closer to transcendence. His rhythms give the impression of breath: in, hold, out. The music does not so much fill the space as illuminate it.
