Born in Arras in France died in Spain, Philippe Rogier was a Franco-Flemish composer of the fifth generation(the last) collegue of Géry de Ghersem, musically speaking his polyphony is refined & elaborated like Nicolas Gombert, but we lost a lot of music from him since the great fire of library of John IV and Lisbon earthquake.

This is sad since he one of the most unexplored Franco-Flemish, his output his scattered in Europe and odd place like Mexico.

What I can say is, only one missa is recorded: missa Ego sum qui sum. He remain a mystery until this day, beside cameo appearance on some album, only  two album, different ensemble yet same mass, was recorded to my Knowledge.

Magnificat & Philip Cave 1999 (label?)

he other one

King's college London Choir 2019

For some reason like the first mention album a bit more.

Mandryka

Thanks for pointing out David Trendell's recording, which I'd like very much to hear. I may well download it today. I rate Trendell highly. Jean Tubery recorded a mass on Ricercar - Missa Domine Dominus.

In fact Philipe Rogier figures on a CD which means a lot to me, because it was the first early music CD I took seriously, the CD which got me interested in Renaissance music - Music for the Duke of Lerma (McCreesh)

Also on same label... same composer.
