I thought I had started a Dubois topic, but none is listed.

To be sure, Dubois is not always on the level of e.g. Cesar Franck, but he approaches such greatness in several works, and one of those is Les Sept Paroles du Christ.  I thought you might be interested in this during Holy Week.

Good recordings are hard to find: this one is fairly good (cellos are a little "wonky" once or twice).

Here are links to a performance on YouTube by a Catholic Choir in Korea:

I don't know if these discs have been mentioned before. Performances should be good & professional.

I will give his music a try ...possibly a bit too sweet for my taste.

Thank you!  I did not know about that CD!

It's an excellent set (3 discs, different musical genres), but the Sept paroles is not included. IMO that's a good thing, as anyone interested in this rather minor composer probably has it already.

Symphonic Addict

Another admirer here. I feel Dubois more akin to Saint-Saëns than Franck. These discs I consider important or necessary to get:

The Violin Concerto is mildly good, but the Sonata has much more integrity.

This CD includes the Fantaisie triomphale for organ and orchestra which is absolutely glorious!!
Part of the tragedy of the Palestinians is that they have essentially no international support for a good reason: they've no wealth, they've no power, so they've no rights.

This one, too, is quite excellent.

MAny thanks to all for the recommendations!

YouTube offers the Second Symphony (from the set mentioned above, I believe):
