This week Andris Nelsons is in Amsterdam conducting Rachmaninoff's 2nd symphony for audiences of 350 distanced listeners.

According to rumors the orchestra really wants to have Nelsons as chief conductor, starting soon, which would mean he'd have to drop the Boston job.

What happened to Daniele Gatti?
He's a perv. Fired for sexual harassment and assault charges by musicians.

That is possibly why his departure isn't mentioned on the Concertgebouw website, just his dates 2016-18.

Gatti's dismissal was a mess, the orchestra was divided about the issue (mainly along gender lines) and leadership didn't handle this very well (the director has since stepped down).

Has Nelsons actually expressed interest in the post, or is this just Concertgebouw wanting him?

Boston really likes him, from third hand information the orchestra does as well and it seems like he has a nice contract with DG to cement his legacy.
