Great to see a thread for this contemporary French composer (b. 1970). He composes accessible, dynamic music of great rhythmic vitality. His very exciting piece Flammenschrift for orchestra should give a good idea of his style:

Brussels Philharmonic and Stéphane Dénève are apparently good friends with Connesson. Possibly the orchestra and Denève see him as some sort of symphonic Einaudi/Richter (with plenty of help by Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Pärt et.al.)...and that sells.
Personally, I don't care about his music and find -what I have or have heard - very derivative & kitschy.
So, for me, it's back to Escaich and Hersant.
