Thanks Cesar (and Manabu).
I suspect that this CD set will be coming my way soon!

Great, Jeffrey! Let us know how you enjoy it.
Part of the tragedy of the Palestinians is that they have essentially no international support for a good reason: they've no wealth, they've no power, so they've no rights.

Quite likely the most renowned Bulgarian composer, who lived from 1899 to 1978. He wrote in many forms, chiefly concertos and orchestral music, and began the tradition of writing violin sonatas and piano trios in his native country.

There is a considerable amount of recordings of his music by labels like CPO, Hungaroton, Capriccio, etc. The latter has reissued quite a lot of his compositions. One of those works from that label encouraged me to begin this thread: Scandinavian Suite, op. 13 (based on the incidental music to 'Ett Drömspel' by August Strindberg).

Just heard that piece today for the first time. I was not expecting this merciless level of passion and white-hot ardor. Uplifting music with a thoroughly unleashed sense of colouring. It's like the epitome of orchestral brilliance, the ultimate late-Romantic wallow! Stylistically speaking, the music is not properly original, it's rather Wagnerian, but wow, there's no denying how dazzling the whole thing sounds. A sonic spectacle. I know it could be an excess for many. However, those who don't have this problem will be in for a real treat.
