That must have been one sexy looking tree, that stop sign just couldn't help itself at all.

In an article about resiliency in nature:

Wow!  Great images there...thank you for that link.  A shame about that 13th century French chateau.

My favourite is that of the tall chimneys capped by trees and bushes. How on earth...?

The cemetery in Laken (Brussels) is well worth a visit.

André

Wow! A beech tree, non ?

I'm not sure. I didn't make that photograph. But I did visit the cemetery several times. It has been renovated and many exceptional tombs have been saved, including a cast of Rodin's Penseur.
I made this photo of another tree "engulfing" a tombstone

That's why you should plant cypresses, and only cypresses, in cemeteries!  :D

 ;) ;) ;)

Laken is smaller than Père Lachaise, but oozes spooky charm.

Another place I should visit... We watch the belgian news daily and they often have a feature on charming, odd, historical places. I've been to many, but there are hundreds more...

Speaking of cemetaries:

Both from Jewish Prague, or just no.2 ?

We also have one here, they tend to be atmospheric.

It's a beautiful cemetery....if that makes sense.

Both. Pics from the net. A friend of mine took his own photos many years ago. Spooky and very poetic at the same time.

Of course.
Cemeteries are often beautiful (sad, mysterious) places. Some are very famous (Venice, Paris, Genoa, Milan, London...Flanders/Vladslo, Normandy...). I like Antwerp's Schoonselhof for quiet walks, bird & mushroom watching. And discovering graves & architecture, of course.

I dare you all to guess where this cemetery is located.

Well, the tombstones give it away, don't they ?

Honestly, would you have thought even for a second that such a cemetery existed in the easternmost corner of Romania?

I visited it twice. There are Englisihmen, Frenchmen, Germans, Turks, Greeks and Romanians, all resting in peace together.
