LOL
How much you wanna bet the audience score will be horrible while the critics score remains above 90%, just like several instances in the past?

I see one review from the movie critic specialist website CNN:
Quote
Fauci makes no pretense about where its sentiments lie, lauding a figure whose critics have seemingly twisted his image beyond recognition in their attempts to demonize him.

Nah, no way they have any sort of special interest in giving the movie a positive review. We should all take the critics section of rotten tomatoes quite seriously, they are the movie experts after all and have better taste than the masses.

If you become the subject of a National Geographic documentary you probably should retire and feel depressed!

Anyway here is my pic:

Audiences often like brainless popcorn films. Its the critics job to point out the many ways they are brainless - cliches, stereotypes, plot holes, bad acting, miscasting...treating the audience as though they believe the audience is brainless beyond simply providing entertainment, etc etc, . I dont see why this would be either surprising or a problem. Have you gone further with rottentomatoes and read the negative reviews by top rated critics of films you've liked to see if they may have some points?

And fwiw National Geographic beyond making serviceable educational films have produced some truly outstanding political documentaries in recent times. "LA 92" on the Rodney King riots and "Hell On Earth" on the rise of Isis are both essential viewing.

They are very cute!  Just read that they can weigh up to 150 lbs!  Also read that at least two ended up being *accidentally released in northern Florida and have been breeding; they think that there are now about 50 of them.

The main one I'm remembering is Ghostbusters remake, which has leveled off by now to not be such a huge gap, there were a few others I don't remember. The reason for the gap seems to be political/culture war reasons. Also, the other one I had in mind I'm forgetting that is on another site, like metacritic (rottentomatoes doesn't include video games)- The Last of Us Part 2. Even that has leveled off a bit by now, but it's still quite a gap. Basically, if there is some controversial left-wing message in movies or video games, the critics always love it. But people largely want politics out of games and movies.

As for the examples of the gaps between audience/critics, I wouldn't doubt that there could be other reasons, as you mentioned, for some movies. Personally, IDGAF about what anyone says. If I enjoy something, I'll enjoy it, better to have more things to enjoy in this world than let someone logic your way to taking the enjoyment out of something for you.

Greg, you do realize that Fauci has been a public figure since the Reagan administration (before you were born)?  He has been active in research and administration over HIV, Swine Flu, Ebola and covid.  He has worked under both republican and democratic leadership for decades.  You only see Fauci as a political figure because you buy Trump rhetoric hook, line and sinker.

Quotepeople largely want politics out of games and movies.

btw this line is always said by people WHO SEE EVERYTHING THROUGH A POLITICAL LENS.  Get out of your bubble and breath some fresh air.
