An AI fail. Another one. I used Gemini and asked it to "generate an image of White River Falls in Oregon as it would appear in a 45 second photographic exposure". It returned a freshly generated image based solely on Abiqua Falls, though the pool is grossly misrepresented. How do I know this? Because I have been to both Abiqua Falls and White River Falls. Since Gemini has access to image databases and map databases, the output is just plain junk. (The fact that the image more closely resembles something closer to what a 15-20 second exposure would yield is a finer point of contention.) Basic geography and image recognition are more important. Well, to people. I suppose the fact that it generated an image of another waterfall in Oregon can be viewed as a win by AI proponents. Maybe next year it'll work.
