Susan Peters, actress. Maybe late 1940s?

This could be by Virgil Apger who was employed by MGM during the time the shot was taken. But I doubt it, because his forte was the production still (won an Oscar for it) and even allowing for the environment it doesn't look much like his work.

Great shot! The composition works so well. Definitely looks like the 1940s!

The biggest obstacle to getting that shot is closing down that park to get the clean background.

Yeah, I wonder if this one is hiding anyone/anything -

;D

But the biggest obstacle to getting a shot like that is (as always) that you need to compose it with both newsprint and magazine stock in mind. And maybe more.

Even it was for a high quality magazine the tonal response of the medium was governed by at one end the paper for the white and then at the other by the amount of ink the printer and his press can put down for black. We used to have a book in which we'd keep updated notes about who was working locally, what they were using, and their skill. But back then even the small time guys were good.

Anyway, the rule of thumb was you would think in five tones with the aforementioned black and white predetermined. So you are left with three greys. That compromise would mean even when it's on crappy newsprint where detail is lost it'll still work well as an image. And then if/when it's also printed upmarket the bonus is it'll look even cooler.

No matter the subject or the job, the first thing you do is to ask if it's first use or single use and the second is to accept your hands are kind of tied.

That's a hell of an overbite but what a beautiful woman -

1950s "scream queen," Beverly Garland (It Conquered the World, Not of This Earth, The Alligator People).  Publicity still from her television series, Decoy (1957-58).

Yikes! What a babe! Ah, Susan Peters...

I read her biography via Wikipedia and such a tragic life. Quite unfortunate.

Is that a picture you like or is this the effect of the Susan Peters photos?    :D

Yeah, tragic indeed.
Here she is with the photographer Robert Coburn. I know she made at least one film then, but after that I've no idea.

I think Coburn is the guy who shot this of Rita Hayworth for 'Gilda'. But I could be wrong -

Ravel?
If I've learned to recognise what composers look like it's almost fully down to seeing them when oor Mirror Image has them as his avatar.  8) ;D

True, but they change so fast that his avatar becomes a blur!   ;)

I love the joy in this photo. Much more interesting than 'static' and 'professional' kind of photo that the one of Argerich appears to be.
