I thought I would cross post this here.

I can't imagine the commanding respect Pierre Boulez had from the modern composer of his time to get all these folks together in the same place at the same time.

Daniel Plante
Love in the Asylum
NY Philharmonic - Pierre Boulez
(1977)

Plante made some posts on Slipped Disc the other day, where he identified the contemporary composers in the picture below, including himself. So, I thought I would track down his odd, 8-minute cantata Love in the Asylum, based on a Dylan Thomas poem.

Here it is for the listening: https://soundcloud.com/daniel-plante-511223801/plante-love-in-the-asylum-1977-02-04-sylvan-ny-phil-boulez

Sorry about that. Boulez is of course on the far right.

A quote from the comments section of the article from Daniel Plante:

QuoteRow 1: [Milton Babbitt, not shown] Lucia Dlugoszewski, Ulysses Kay, George Rochberg, [and in the empty seat, Mario Davidovsky sat down shortly after this was taken.]
Row 2: [David Gilbert, not shown] Stephen Jablonski, Jacob Druckman, Roger Sessions, William Schuman, and Aaron Copland.
Row 3: Donald Martino, Donald Harris, Daniel Plante (me, the kid not wearing a tie), Morton Gould, Vincent Persichetti, and Roy Harris.
Row 4: [Charles Wuorinen, Carman Moore, Sidney Hodkinson, David Del Tredici not shown] Earle Brown, Harley Gaber, Stanley Silverman, John Cage, and Elliott Carter.

Great shot !
Thanks VonStupp  :)

(Milton Babbitt appears well at the bottom left, but not Charles Wuorinen indeed)

I have heard of/acquainted with some of the composers/compositions.  So were you really there (wasn't certain whether or not you might be joking, no insult intended)?!  If so, pretty cool!  Are you a composer yourself?  Or how did you end up being there?  :)

Best wishes,

Steve Reich is in Row 4. He's standing next to Earle Brown.

I wish! No, that was from this article: https://slippedisc.com/2021/06/23-us-composers-at-pierre-boulezs-last-concert/

Daniel Plante (the young guy in the white shirt) is listing off the composers from that article. It was his music I was searching for: https://soundcloud.com/daniel-plante-511223801/plante-love-in-the-asylum-1977-02-04-sylvan-ny-phil-boulez
