Just saw this touching obituary of the 95-year-old pianist and composer:

Did not know that he had had a second career composing. But I have long enjoyed his amazing run of great recordings from his youth, including some of the best-ever Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, and R. Strauss concertos/Burleske. What panache and fire! How sad that his arthritis and other finger issues curtailed his time on stage.
