Maybe Satie.  GymnopĂ©dies is used in alot of movies especially in rom-coms to establish quirky characters or setting.

But I have to admit that I've become so accustomed to listening to the same narrow selection of music that I'm just not that good at identifying music.  Maybe someone else will chime in.

MusicTurner

Its not really classical, or Satie either, I think.

Sorry Ruggiero, but I don't know it.  Which Anthony Bourdain program was it on (I did enjoy watching his shows)?  A thought:  Contact the producers of the show and they might be able to either share the info for you or point you to the person who would know.  As an aside, I didn't know about Bemelman's and the story behind it.  Would love to go there one day.

Sounds like film music to me - Chocolat/Portman, Amélie Poulain / Yann Tiersen....but I don't recognise it.
It is walz-like, I hear a vibraphone and soft strings...but it is a very muffled sound.
Sorry.

Was it from one of his "No Reservations" shows?  https://www.travelchannel.com/shows/anthony-bourdain/episodes/new-york

He did host/have a number of different programs over the years as well as being a guest on many more.

Perhaps try contacting one of the people listed here who (if the info is correct) worked on that episode:  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2133943/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_2

More info here too:  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2133943/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm

I would suggest Talk Classical or reddit.com/r/classicalmusic.  Larger forums, better chance of someone identifying the music.  In the early 2000s you would have had the answer within an hour of posting it, but the forum is just small these days.

Iota

As he's talking about the Madeline books when the music's playing, might it be music from the Madeline film (by Michel Legrand apparently)?

Ruggiero

Lota i dont know , but know i search soundtrack from this film

Ruggiero

Hi Ruggiero,

Did you see my other replies?  You could try and contact one or more of the people involved in that show.  They might be able to dig up the info for you. Here's the reply that I am referring to.

When did you send it/them?  Well, maybe give it some time.  There's a lot going on right now plus maybe they are trying to work on new programs, etc.  I would think that if you received an answer within a few months that might be (a guess at my end) a decent timeline in normal times, but mind you, we're dealing with a pandemic!  May I ask, why are you so wanting to know who composed the piece?  Just curious here.

Ruggiero

I like this , and i want all of this song

Benji

It may just be a very short piece composed for general use in background settings / TV - There is a whole industry for such music especially for YouTube videos etc - audio clipart as the other poster suggested. If that's the case there may not be a recording available except to license for media.

Have you tried the Siri / shazaam trick? If you ask Siri 'what is this tune' and play the clip you may get a result. Worth a try.

Or just upload it to Youtube and wait until you get a copyright hit.  :P
