I tried for a few years to have a split system on a iMac with Windows installed on part of it.  The response from Windows was horrible.  Don't know whether or not it was fair as they told me the that it wasn't installed in (I forget the term) a usual system.  I also remember earlier support when I had a Windows PC--which was extremely mixed and time consuming.  Meanwhile, Apple has been great to me over the years....just saying!

Good luck!

Best wishes,

PD

PC and Apple are far from perfect and both have their own pros/cons, but let me say that ever since I started using Apple computers (probably for close to 20 years now), I have had far fewer problems than when I was using PCs. What I like about Apple is their user-friendly approach. With a PC, I always felt like I needed to take classes on operating computers in order to do something basic and forget trying to do something complicated on a PC, if you're not a fan of headaches, then stay away from PCs. :) Some people absolutely hate Apple computers and that's fine, but I love them and I simply couldn't imagine myself going back to a PC.

That is very interesting MI I had not considered Apple, and I agree with your comments regarding PC, I have a Dell desk top which I have been very happy with but with this Dell inspiron lap top with W10  has been one thing after another, I intend contacting Dell NZ and see what they say.

Would any of you buy a Dell in 2021?

Nope.  We use Dell at work, and they are not bad workstations but after a few years they are glacially slow.  I have a Macbook Air for my laptop and my desktop is a pc I built myself.

I do lots of video encoding on my Dell XPS, and it does about as good a job as I could expect from any PC, even one twice as expensive. The problem is that high quality encoding doesn't go much faster on i9s vs i5s or equivalent Ryzens.
