For the first time I'm feeling a real sense of dread about what the next few years could be like. I thought we had more time.

Thank you Jeffrey !

Your latest clue on the matter should be that this year dozens of cities have cancelled celebrations, all canadian government flags are at half-mast and nobody is in any mood to celebrate... :-X

But we'll gladly take hugs all the same   :)
Yes indeed André - I've been following those dispiriting stories on the news, including the pulling down of statues of Queen Victoria and QE2 in protest.

As of July 2 pm, 719 deaths have been attributed to the heat wave in British Columbia.  🥵
Oh my word!  When did the heat wave officially start?  Any idea when they think that it will end?

We've had a big cool down with lots of rain lately.  The cooler temps are nice, but need sunshine again for my plants--particularly the veggies.

It's a heat dome that's also affected NW USA states, Oregon and Washington in particular. BC is just north of there. The dome is slowly moving east.

I went to a political sight with a lot of right wing loons I watch to see how they were spinning this, expecting "just a blip" or still nothing definitive".

I shouldn't have caught off guard but somehow was when I read that god is punishing west coast liberal elites for their irreligious ways.

Yes, thanks André.  I did know where *BC is and about the US states being effected.   ;)  Just haven't kept up with certain areas of the news as much as I probably should have lately.  Think that it's been going on for something like a week?  10 days?   In terms of over 100...?  I have been hearing from acquaintances and on the radio about drought conditions in a number of areas.  And, recently, a story on NPR about worsening conditions re the Colorado River and how that is/will be effecting various states.

*One of your provinces in particular that I'd really love to visit someday...the Fates allowing it.   :)

Best wishes,

Just ran across this shocking article:  "Extreme heat cooked mussels, clams and other shellfish alive on beaches in Western Canada"

Every bit as frightening as the heat and drought:  the amazing stupidity of Trumpers and the Christian Right.

That is shocking, sadly the human species has overwhelmed the world. :(
