Finland's got it all.

Now even the fourth World championship in ice hockey, the first championship we won in our home games. Here is video of Finns celebration last night in Helsinki:

Seems like they all enjoyed it, in a peaceful way. Cool!

You probably mean Lappi (Lapland)? That's what the northern part of Finland is called. Loppi exists in Finland too. It a municipality in southern Finland.

I have been to Lapland only in my youth in summertime. Being there in the summer means being eaten alive by mosquitos.  ;D In the winter the place turns into "Narnia" and attracts a lot of tourists from all over the World. I have watched a lot of Youtube videos of people visiting there and it is considered a magical place, especially if you haven't used to snow. The snow in Lapland is very glittering, because the place has the cleanest air in the World of all inhabited places and clean air makes snow more glittering. It can be very cold up there of course, but proper clothing helps and tourists who visit the place say jokingly that it doesn't matter if their fingers and toes much be amputated because of frost bites, because it is so cool being there.  8)

Yes, pretty peaceful. Places looked messy in the morning and one guy in Tampere city fell on his head from a lamppost and had to be hospitalized, but that's about it as far as I know.

Always happy to see a discussion of Finland's sports prowess, just giving it its own thread, away from the vicissitudes of war...  :)

I meant Loppi.

Back in the 1980's, the Loppi Youth Choir and the ensemble l was singing with were both participating at an international choral festival at The Hague. We sort of took to each other... when they sang we college kids would stand and cheer. When we sang the nearly all- female choir sounded like the girls at a Beatles concert, they would literally scream in their seats.

On the last day, after we said goodbye and wished each other well, two giggling preteens asked me for my autograph, the only time that's ever happened. I was happy to do so, though totally confused as to why.

So l wish to pay my respects, if l ever have the opportunity.

Oh, okay. My bad.  :)

What a memory you have from The Hague. I found this page for you. Maybe the two giggling preteens are active in Naiskuoro Timotei?

It is entirely possible. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to find out someday.

In any event, I've had Finnish friends during the intervening years, which has engendered respect and warm feelings for the country.  8)

Hopefully the opportunity emerges for you. So nice to hear about your warm feelings toward our cold northern country.  0:)
