None of the quartets?  8)

This is especially impossible.

I almost put "Sunrise Quartet" in place of Trumpet Concerto but changed my mind. Consider it Top 6, if you will.

The Trumpet Concerto is the first Haydn I ever participated in, so I cannot be entirely rational about it.  I would never suggest that it does not belong in your Top 5.

I don't know how the rest of you identify works but I use boxes.

Complete String Quartets
Complete Symphonies
Complete Piano Trios
Complete Masses and Oratorios

I even have a slot to spare in my list.

I'll take one each from the major genres and one bonus

Quartets op. 20/4 and 76/5
Symphony 88
Piano trio A major Hob. xv:18
Sonata in C major Nr. 50
Die Schöpfung
Struck by the sounds before the sun,
I knew the night had gone.
The morning breeze like a bugle blew
Against the drums of dawn.

Both cello concerti
String Quartet op. 20/2
String Quartet op. 76/1
One of the "London" symphonies - probably 104

Haven't heard the entire Creation but the beginning is quite extraordinary.

One per genre:

Keyboard Concerto no. 11 in D major
Piano Sonata no. 62 in E-flat major
Piano Trio no. 44 in E major
String Quartet in C major, op. 20/2
Symphony no. 68 in B-flat major

Bonus: Te Deum in C major

I'm still unfamiliar with most of his masses. Time to rectify that!

I think this is the most sensible list so far. 😎

For me, today, it would be:

Die Schöpfung
Symphony No. 94
Harmoniemesse
Piano Concerto No. 11 (Hob. XVIII / 11)
Orlando paladino
