vers la flamme

The word "Slay" as an interjection. I don't know when this caught on but I just noticed it recently, and it sounds really stupid... Also, when people like something and say that it "hits different". These are both used to extreme excess, mostly by people who are a few years younger than me (early 20s).

Slay queen!  That will live rent free in my head.  It just hits different.  You're just dragging that gen.  But you're right, this slang is a bit sus.  You just clap back when they don't realize that Mahler is the GOAT.

Somewhere I came across the malapropism "from the gecko", which amuses me.

PD

p.s.  For those who might not be familiar with the reference, there's an insurance company here in the US (which advertises frequently  on t.v.).  The company's name is Geico and their "spokesperson" is  this gecko.
