I've just spent some time tagging the five CDs in this box. Every now and again there's no result when I try to auto-tag from the web, and this entire box-let was off the grid. I don't see why: it's Deutsche Grammophon, for goodness' sake. Now to tag Boulez's Moses und Aron with the Concertgebouworkest.

What language did you write this software in? I'd like to learn to code but I don't know what I'd need to learn for practical applications like this.

The language is Python.  The GUI is done with Qt using the PySide module, and the actual reading and writing of tags is done with the mutagen module.

I retag to remove the composers' first names. Also, Roon has a focus/bookmark feature that allows one to group music in several ways. I tend to group them by performing forces, such as guitar, piano, trio, quartet, quintet, concerto, symphony, etc. If the title doesn't contain one of my key words, then I add it.

What happens if (for example) you have recordings by various members of the Bach family?

I leave their initials intact.
