Autolycus

I've just started to use GMG as an additional Classical Music site.

My wife, Rosalba, tells me great things of you! My chief interests are in Baroque and Early Music so it's good that we live near the Early Music Centre in York :)

Looking forward to becoming a regular on here!

Welcome to the forum. It must be great to have a centre specialising in your particular interest in the vicinity.

Welcome aboard! I hope you enjoy it here.

Welcome to GMG, Autolycus, beloved spouse - and many thanks to Brewski who helped us to get here.

Hope you have a lovely time here, as it's a great place to be. xx

Welcome, Autolycus, and hope you have a good time here! (PS, you two may be the first spouse/couple members on GMG. Sorry we don't have a special prize, certificate, or something. ;D)

Glad to have you with us.

Does that mean there is now a member - or two - without a spouse yelling at them turn that racket down it's like World War 3 in there? >:D

A warm welcome from Romania, Autolycus!

I think there's also Dave (SonicMan) and his wife Susan (Harpo).

Oops, my bad. Forgot about them, and even more red-faced, since I met them in person, years ago!

And a warm welcome from Ireland to you.
You will certainly be in good company here with your musical preferences.
I look forward to reading your posts.

Welcome!

While l largely live and die for Mahler, l also enjoy early music, having performed a fair amount of it in college. I adore Josquin, in particular.

Looking forward to your comparisons of Dufay vis a vis Ockeghem...  ;)

Seriously though, welcome to GMG. I spent 10 days in Yorkshire in 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and also the warm hospitality of 'Yorkshire folk'.
Cheers

Welcome Autolycus. I share your main interests and so do many others here.

Could that possibly a reference to my own domestic situation? ('OMG - YOU'RE NOT ONLINE TO YOUR CAT GROUP AGAIN?!!!!, MUST WE LISTEN TO THIS NOISE? IS THAT WW3 GOING ON IN THERE?')

Anyway, welcome Autolycus and I think that it's fun to have a husband and wife team aboard. I don't think that my wife will be joining anytime soon.  ::)

You might think that Jeffrey; I could not possibly comment. ;D

I've thought of another characteristic comment: HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY LIKE THIS? (to which I usually reply 'Well, I do')

If my spouse made such a remark I'd probably reply, " l eat your cooking, don't l? "

Maybe it's just a well I'm single.

If that is her reaction to Myaskovsky or Vaughan Williams, I dread to imagine what would have happened had you been a Xenakis devotee.

Haha! I recall that Sibelius's long-suffering wife Aino once asked her husband when he would be home after arranging the latest drinking session with his friends, only to receive the response 'I'm a composer not a fortune teller'. They didn't speak for a long time after this.
