We just had our "Secret Santa" gift exchange.

I got a fantastic gift bag with some great gifts!

In a tin I got a bag of Paradiso coffee beans from Second Cup, an Anchorman DVD AND a Schubert CD which includes the Trout Quintet (which I don't have :))and the Death and the Maiden string quartet (which I have).  Very pleased with my gift!

By the way--30 CDs of Elgar's masterpieces?  5 minutes per CD?

I'm glad I didn't have any liquid in my mouth when I read that.

Nothing.

My wife and I swap token gifts on the day but apart from that we avoid the 'consume, consume' retail pressure. My wife does a very small amount of Xmas shopping mainly for junior family members.

We do heaps of things for each other all year so the whole give, give, give at Xmas seems very arbitary.  0:)

As usual, I asked "Santa" (my mother) for something I sorely need. This year it's a new, larger bookshelf.

Mystery

All these CDs...I just borrow them from the uni library and add them to my computer, and/or use Naxos online. Cheeky eh?  0:)

She asked me to buy her only the Perlman Paganini Caprices and Obituary's "Executioner's Return".

Sounds like I made out good huh?

And I must thank Mark again for the marvelous Year's Worth.

Yeah my girl wore the grooves out on Obituary's "World Demise", and we both love the shredder they have on their latest, Ralph Santolla.

My best mate gave me a set of Shure sound isolating earphones which was a great gift, but it was even better getting to catch up as we live in different countries now.

A propos not much at all as my family don't do the Christmas present business, my sister gave me some gorgeous Smythson leather goods - a diary and travel document holders. There will be somewhat of a discrepancy between my usual cattle class tickets and their luxurious cases :P

I placed a largish hmv japan order a month or so ago as my own Christmas present, which seems quite wickedly solipsistic >:D, but the estimated delivery date isn't until the end of January >:(, which is probably the gods teaching me a lesson about sharing and the Christmas spirit $:) ;D.

But seriously, I'm just happy to spend some time with my folks as I only see them a couple of times a year these days :).
