Unbelievably, it doesn't appear that a "favorite Beethoven works" thread has ever been done! At the moment, mine are:

Cello Sonata no. 4, op. 102/1
Mass in C major
Piano Concerto no. 4
Piano Trio no. 7 Archduke
String Quartet no. 15, op. 132
Symphony no. 7
Triple Concerto
"Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music" - Sergei Rachmaninoff

Symphony No. 7
Piano Concerto No. 4
String Quartet No. 16
Piano Sonata No. 27
Piano Trio No. 5 ("Ghost")

String Quartets:
Op 59 #1, Op 135
Piano Trios:
Archduke, Ghost
Sonatas:
Kreutzer
Symphonies:
3, 7

I was going to try to figure out what my favorite piano sonata was (difficult) but I realized that I was already at 7 works!

I don't listen to Beethoven very often, but I LOVE the late SQs, but I also rather like several of the symphonies, especially the 6th though the 9th.

Only 55 and 68 are works not usually referred to by their opus number alone (they're the Third and Sixth Symphonies). For most of Beethoven's works we do usually say "the piano sonata opus 111" instead of "piano sonata no. 32" (in part because it's actually number 35 or 36 depending on how you keep count). Similarly opus numbers are necessary for the late quartets because their actual "correct" order is 12, 15, 13, 14, 16.
