I was sorry to hear that this fine organist had died. I gather that he's been suffering from Alzheimer's disease for several years.
This was just announced this morning.

Sad news. I've never been into organ music, and therefore haven't followed Mr. Preston's career. But, his recording of Stravinsky's Canticum Sacrum (originally on Argo, and now to be found in the DG "Stravinsky Complete Edition" box) is quite wonderful (probably my favourite of this beautiful work).

R.I.P. Simon Preston.

The first set of Bach's complete organ works I bought was his recording. It's not the best out there but it's certainly not worthy of being neglected.
