Pick one

Schönberg - Fünf Orchesterstücke
Webern - Sechs Stücke für Orchester
Xenakis - Metastaseis
Penderecki - Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima
Ligeti – Requiem
Huber - Tenebrae
Crumb – Black Angels
Birtwistle – The Triumph of Time
Feldman - Elemental Procedures
Stockhausen - Luzifer's Abschied

I chose some of the most terrifying works I know of.

"A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people ... then work which one hopes may be of some use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbour — such is my idea of happiness"

There's a similar poll indeed, anyway my vote goes to Schönberg's Orchesterstücke.
