This is an excerpt from my Symphony of Distant Ruins.

It was originally composed in 2002 but recently I found the original material and revised it completely.  Using the original ideas and themes, this is an entirely different work.  The original was 40 minutes long for large orchestra including a part for organ.  This version includes additional instruments such as bass flute, contrabass clarinet, off stage percussion, etc., but is about 35 minutes long.  The first sections are passionate and loud including a huge climax that implodes into a long passage of quiet desolation reminding me of Vaughan Williams' Symphony No. 6 structurally.   The excerpt includes moments from the opening adagio and the final quiet, desolate minutes.  It's a grim and pessimistic work.
