Watched it last night, good stuff. Her reaction at seeing Spock was predictably delightful. :)

Part two should include " The Inner Light ", widely considered one of the best episodes in all of Trek.

I did enjoy "Darmok" all over again, too.

Dawn Marie has been having a " Western Week ", and earlier today she uploaded a favorite of mine and others here, Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven:

Since I'm one of those annoying 'The Wire is the best television show ever' people, I wanted to find someone reacting to it. I watched several different reactors I didn't connect to.

Then I found this one. She's really good. She picks up on stuff I never noticed and doesn't seem to miss anything.

It's a happy accident whenever that occurs, for sure.

My very first theatrical experience was seeing Godzilla vs. the Thing ( 1964's Mothra vs. Godzilla, dubbed in English for its American release ).

I wouldn't exactly call myself a fan of the old girl, but I'm ok with her place in the Monsterverse.  8)

The latest one is outstanding. I don't think it does the film justice to compare it to other films about monsters. It's about the tragic consequences of the war for the Japanese.

One of the better Stephen King adaptations. I've seen that reaction but it's been a while, so thanks for the reminder.

I wonder if she'll try The Mist from the same director. A few cliches pop up but it still works, and the ending is beyond memorable.

I agree completely. You could remove Godzilla and all of his associated scenes and references, and you'd still have a solid film because the human characters actually matter.

That's weird (I was sure I'd composed and posted a reply.)
I tried a couple of times to read Stephen King. There were two summers that I worked at the Viking- Penguin Distribution Center (then in East Rutherford, New Jersey) where you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a Stephen King title. Somehow his writing never drew me in, and now since I've learnt what a snob he is about the Twilight Zone, I don't know that I could give him a disinterested appraisal. Of course, he's sold millions of books, so he's clearly done something right. All in all, I'm bemused that I enjoy so many screen adaptations of his work, and enjoy them I do.

I've read The Shining, The Stand, Pet Sematary and a joint effort with ( I think ) Peter Straub, called The Talisman.

While l found them fairly involving decades ago, I've never re-read them and don't recall much in detail.

And, i memory serves, it was a reaction vid which you shared whereby I became aware of The Mist. Which meant that I had to watch the movie itself before watching the reaction. IIRC Darabont came up with the ending, which King agreed was an improvement on the source.

Indeed, and King's endorsement has partially mollified some first- time reactors who've lost their s**t at the film's incomparably grim conclusion.
