They broadcast him playing Janacek ('In the Mists') on BBC Radio 3 as a tribute, on my way into school this morning. The presenter said that it seemed surreal that his obituary was in the Daily Telegraph this morning. I stayed in my car to hear the end of the music.
Oh!  I'll try and see if I can listen to it.  Do you remember roughly when it was?  Which program/commentator?

A fine and somehow rather appropriate BBC Music Mag cover disc featuring Vogt as part of a truly stellar group........

Sadly, I don't know anything about the musicians.  Can you give me any details?

The other trio there are closely associated with Wigmore Hall and the London chamber music scene. I don't know full info for all of them, but Paul Watkins has a British cello music series on Chandos (and if I remember right a...Britten cello symphony?...that is considered definitive) and Michael Collins was a former Philharmonia principal clarinetist who has struck out on a solo career as both soloist and conductor.

I think you're correct on all counts. Paul Watkins is also the cellist for the Emerson String Quartet (who are disbanding next year).

There was already a live recording from Heimbach with Messiaen's quatuor (1999, the same musicians, except Alban Gerhardt, cello), I remember this as good but I am not that familiar with the piece and have not heard the later BBC

Thanks for that (as a fan of live concerts). Quite a program!  :o

I am not sure if this was really only one concert, I actually doubt it. I have this in a more comprehensive box, the first? from the Heimbach festival that really is a treasure trove, if one can find it.

Sad news indeed.

I saw Lars Vogt perform Brahms PC1 in 2013 with Atlanta S.O. and Donald Runnicles on the podium. I googled the concert and found an unfavorable review of the evening by an Atlanta critic, which I won't post here, but I really enjoyed his performance, and frankly I'm impressed with anyone that can perform the piece. It was an all-Brahms concert of Tragic Ovt., PC1 and Symphony 1, which was honestly too much Brahms in such a short time.

Condolences to family, friends and fans.  I took a listen to some of his Mozart.  I found it a bit abrasive, so it wasn't to my taste.

No problem, totally fine. Just glad to know this exists. (But yes, I may seek out that festival box.)
